What Holy Communion Means To Me
I love my God, and my desire is to please Him. Of the many concerns that I have in this life, pleasing our Lord ranks at the top of my list. I think about Him throughout the day, asking questions, clarifying my purpose, and my direction, and identifying and redefining His plan for my life, my family and others.
There is no way that I would be able to convey God in my life without a natural, or mental, emotional, or social communion with Him everyday of my life.
The Holy Scriptures reminded me that at the most critical and epic point of His life on earth, prior to His crucifixion, He took communion with His disciples. Imagine that…. Communion before His transition back to His heavenly father, Communion before those that was supposed to love him, yet, they crucified Him, communion before His creations, whipped him, and spat upon Him. My God, and you thought you were going through something, but God!
Jesus modeled the greatest example of suffering that anyone could endure, but He did not neglect the need to give thanks, and teach others to do so, even in the midst of His crisis. Oh don’t you love Him today? Tell God…. Lord, I Love You!
The “Cup” is the new testament of His Blood. This New Testament was all about loving on you. This New Testament was all about saving us from a burning hell. This New Testament was all about teaching us the true meaning of love; no greater love hath a man than this that he lay down his life for his friends. We were not meant to destroy lives, but to build them up in the name of Jesus.
When we break the bread, it is demonstrative of His broken body at Calvary, and the public shame he endured. He was the Son of God whom the enemy thought he was publicly shaming, but only catapulted Him towards His eternal glory, and mankind’s salvation.
We are to demonstrate and remind others of the importance of Holy Communion in the approved way as required by the Lord.
We do not take communion in any state of mind, but with respect, honor, and all the love due to our Savior. Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah!!! Do you love Him today? When I think about all that He does for us, joy bubbles within my heart and I am so grateful!
We should examine ourselves daily, and especially before we take communion. Lord, I don’t want to come before you anyway. I repent of anything that was not pleasing in your sight! I don’t want to disrespect your body, your death, or all that you have done for me, by not discerning the wrong in my life, and confessing it!
My confessions of sin, demonstrates that I understand that we are to be Holy and represent holiness. For Holiness without, no man shall see the Lord.
After we have examined ourselves (repented), then we eat of the bread, and drink of the cup.
When we do not respect the Lord’s Supper by self- examination, and still partake of communion, the word says, we become sick, weak, and sleep.
He is a loving God! He does not only want us to love, and respect each other, but he also wants us to love and respect Him. “Do this as oft as ye think of me.” Jesus has said, I will not drink of it again until we come into the kingdom. Church, He is waiting for us to commune with Him again! HALLELUJAH, HALLELUJAH, HALLELUJAH!!!
